monkey writer bio
I quit teaching a few years ago in order to realize my dream of becoming a 'real writer.' Since then I have founded a writing center in Indiana and enjoy writing everyday. Been published here and there, but still in search of the seed that will help me write 'the great American novel' :)

Hi Kathy! Yay you were here today. Anyway, just mentioning that I've started Kingsolver's newest book (The Lacuna) it's pretty good.

9:57PM EST   Jun 1st, 2010 — by Chris Sadler
What about the name Chris Applemonkey?

5:05PM EST   Feb 20th, 2010 — by Nathan Lachow
Also a Barbara Kingsolver fan. So far I've only read The Poisonwood Bible, but it was amazing, and my parents have a few others by her at home.

I love the name Kat<3

1:40PM EST   Dec 11th, 2009 — by Harrison Bradlow
Thanks Kathy! That was very nice and encouraging feedback you left on the John Hunt story!

7:28PM EST   Oct 16th, 2009 — by Harrison Bradlow
Hi Kathy! Came back to monkey around a bit and thought I'd say hello! (btw, congrats on the seed! any ideas?)

9:12PM EST   Oct 13th, 2009 — by Chris Sadler
Ha-ha! You are most welcome! Any time I can help. P.S. I find that 'Duh's are usually not very helpful...

4:26PM EST   Oct 12th, 2009 — by Chris Sadler
Sure, Kathy. Simply mouse up to the big ONE MILLION MONKEYS TYPING banner at the top of the page and click on that. That will bring you to the Grove.

As Michael's roommate, I can vouch for his life still being there. He's just finished graduating and he's doing all sorts of side projects he couldn't do while focusing on college. He said he'll be back soon. Shells and Barrels needs to be completed, right?

12:59PM EST   Sep 7th, 2009 — by Chris Sadler
I noticed that, too. Writing on the weekends seems to be a lonely experience around here!

11:43PM EST   Jul 9th, 2009 — by Michael LeBlanc
Thanks. But I think it's due to my novel idea and Novel Novice's addition. It really got her fire going. Well, figuratively speaking. Trees and fire don't mix. (I guess they mix *too well* actually...) Thanks, though.

7:25PM EST   Jul 7th, 2009 — by Camille Strauss
I have a pretty good idea, just gotta get around to planting it.

11:38PM EST   Jun 24th, 2009 — by Michael LeBlanc
Howdy, stranger! Seriously, glad to have you back.

2:27AM EST   Jun 21st, 2009 — by Chris Sadler
Sleeping? What's that? Seriously, it's good to see that you're back!

12:14PM EST   Jun 20th, 2009 — by Michael LeBlanc
Enjoy the Shells and Barrels, there's a lot going on there. As for my newest tree, I'm anxious to see what you can do there.

9:19AM EST   Jun 20th, 2009 — by kathy Higgs
Thanks for asking. I've been out of it for awhile, as I had an agent request something else I was working on. Hoping to be able to plant the seed soon. Probably something like The Stranger Within, fiction that starts out normal and then twists somehow.

1:49PM EST   Apr 21st, 2009 — by romano fatalia
what's your plan for next tree?

1:25AM EST   Feb 27th, 2009 — by Ilya Kreymerman

Wow, I suddenly have a TON of MonkeyMails! Just kidding! I am glad you enjoy my remarks, they are often void of any meaning. I just like to have fun with what others have written. I never mean to be overly rude, just funny. So I'm glad you appreciate the (effort at) humor. Keep writing your wonderful snippets!

3:18PM EST   Jan 7th, 2009 — by Michael LeBlanc
Hey you. From some one who founded a writing site, the compliments you give me are something a bit more than gold. I'm a fry cook, in college to be a drafter. I never thought I would get praise like that. When it comes to you stories, though, I can see that the path you chose to be a writer is definitely to the 'write' one. Ugh, bad pun. But again, thank you.

8:19PM EST   Jan 4th, 2009 — by Harrison Bradlow
Yes, I'll be back to it I'm sure. I haven't been online much at all recently. In the middle of a big move, and time's been at a premium! I'll definitely be back to the Replicators, as well as the rest of the trees on the site. Thanks for checking in, and I hope all's going well for you!

Thanks! It's fun to see where you guys are taking it.

Great new tree... Congrats! :)

5:02PM EST   Dec 19th, 2008 — by Harrison Bradlow
Sorry to cut short The Stranger Within's time as Million Monkeys' youngest tree! =)

10:01AM EST   Dec 19th, 2008 — by Harrison Bradlow
Congratulations Kathy! You've got something really original there with your tree. I love your writing style, so engrossing.

2:50PM EST   Dec 18th, 2008 — by kathy Higgs
Hey, I earned one! Now the pressure's really on.

11:08AM EST   Dec 17th, 2008 — by Harrison Bradlow
Oooh Kathy, gobble up another 5% and give us a tree!

5:41PM EST   Dec 12th, 2008 — by Harrison Bradlow
Thanks! There seems to be a programming bug keeping me from planting, but as soon as it's cleared up I'll add a new tree to the grove. :)

10:22AM EST   Dec 3rd, 2008 — by Harrison Bradlow
Looks like you found the new tree! I'm about to read your new additions. Looking forward to it!

11:22AM EST   Dec 1st, 2008 — by Harrison Bradlow
Good! I'm pretty addicted to it myself. Loving what you're adding to it!

12:36AM EST   Nov 26th, 2008 — by Harrison Bradlow
Hi Kathy. In case I'm not on again between now and Thursday, Happy Thanksgiving!

10:16AM EST   Nov 24th, 2008 — by Harrison Bradlow
Hi Kathy, and thanks! Not sure why it wouldn't let you post, that sounds odd. Thank you for not giving up, though, and sending it to me via MM. I really appreciated the encouragement. I'm loving that storyline, and I'm thrilled that you've kept posting on it.

6:06PM EST   Nov 22nd, 2008 — by Mikoto Yokoshima
Thanks. XD I'm afraid mine aren't that good though, and I don't get to rite often. XD

5:22PM EST   Nov 22nd, 2008 — by kathy Higgs
Nope, I'm here. Just working on a few other projects that sapped my creativity. Thanks for the encouragement! Which pieces have you been working on?

3:31PM EST   Nov 5th, 2008 — by Harrison Bradlow
I hope you haven't abandoned the site! I'm dying to read what you had in mind for Judie with the lab accident angle.

6:56PM EST   Oct 26th, 2008 — by Mikoto Yokoshima
Hajimemashite. Mikoto Yokoshima desu. Yoroshiku. Welcome to the site Higgs-san. I see you've started snippeting, ne? Ja, mata.

12:14AM EST   Oct 26th, 2008 — by Harrison Bradlow
Welcome aboard Kathy! I absolutely loved your first snippet. So creative. I can't wait to see more along that line, and I'll probably be adding some grafts onto it myself. I hope you enjoy the site!
