William Roberts

You are William Roberts, a 68-year old man. You’re recently retired, and you haven’t got much to do—except write. You love to write essays about previous experiences. You love to write contemplations, prose, poetry, and about the simple joys of life. You love to disclose information and advice for people who just may read what you’ve written. You enjoy making up codes of living, doing service, and having philosophical discussions with anyone and everyone—including your barber. You are playful, and you want people to take life a little bit easier and take some time to draw on the sidewalk. You like to mix candy into your oatmeal. You give simple gifts such as poetry books, crayons, and play-doh.

You are The Essayist.

***

Codes for writing: There are several ways you can go with this. You can write a story about William with his essays in between, or you can just present it as a collection of his essays, poetry, and favorite quotes. Sort of like a journal. These are technically essays, but they shouldn’t be written like a school paper. They should be written as journal entries, clippings, quotes, other peoples’ experiences, thoughts and/or commentaries. You can write anything! Movie reviews, a rant about your neighbor, or the deaf kid you saw playing in the sandbox. You can write anything and/or everything. You can give advice, write about experiences you’ve had and such (am I repeating myself? You can write anything!), hypothetical situations and non-fiction. Mr. William is just a vessel in which you can vent your wisdom and ideals.

Happy Snippeting!

(PS: As with all of my trees, the 300-word limit is a limit, not a requirement.)

Hmmm...If only I had some wisdom to share...

Good idea, Kole. Hope this one takes off. On a personal side note, my high school art teacher was named William Roberts. Ask him to tell you the story behind his nickname: 'Fireball.'

Perhaps you could adapt it? I dunno. Do what you wish.

Wow! This is exactly the freestyling randomness we need for the site! I wouldn't ever of thought of something so creative and out there. Great job!

Great idea Kole! This is GREAT for me because I love writing in first person! And also acting like my writing can actually help someone!

Yeah! I like to pretend that my writing helps, too!

You displayed the character so amazingly -- I want to be him when I grow up. I guess I can continue along the tree and try to be him now, but I don't think I'm nearly clever enough.
